By: Valeria G

The location of Western Sahara is Northern Africa, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean, between Mauritania and Morocco. The capital of Western Sahara is Ayoun. Its population is 350,000. The language of Western Sahara is Arabic. The weather in Western Sahara is very hot because it is in a desert.

A holiday they celebrate in Western Sahara is Eid al Adha . Eid al Adha means “The Feast of the sacrifice.” It is a Muslim religious holiday. It is a commemoration of when Abraham was going to kill his son Ishmael, to prove to Allah his faith. The angel Gabriel, sent from Allah, told him to kill a lamb instead of Ishmael. Allah was convinced that Abraham believed in him because he was going to sacrifice his only son Ishmael. The Western Sahara people celebrate it by sacrificing a lamb such as Abraham did. One third of the meat they cook is given to the poor people and the other they use it for the holiday feast. The kids get lots of gifts.
