HOLY WEEK IN PANAMA

P anama is located south of Costa Rica and north of Colombia. It has a canal that connects the Pacific Ocean with the Caribbean. Spanish is the official language of the country but 14 % of the country speaks only English. Many Panamanians are bilingual. The complete name of the country is La Republica de Panama.
This place is a beautiful place to visit. You can visit the old city ( Panama Viejo). Also the Panama canal . Panama city is One of the most colorful cities in the world.
Holy Week in Panama is called Semana Santa. It is illegal to sell alcohol during this religious holiday. There are only religious parades. This holiday is to remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. During the week almost every street is calm. You can walk down the center of the street and there are no cars. You can spend the holiday with your friends taking walks through town and nothing will happen. The streets are empty and safe. This holiday is celebrated in many other countries. It is a Christian holiday. The day before Good Friday is the best day of the year for eating sea food. This whole week the people can not eat meat.
