| A holiday Iran celebrates is Sizdah Bedar, it is the Persian Festival of Joy and Solidarity celebrated on the 13 th of the Persian New Year. They celebrated outdoors to get rid of bad thoughts and bad things.In 2008, Sizdah Bedar will occur on April 1 st. ‘Sizdah’ means thirteen and ‘Bedar’ means to get rid of, Sizdah Bedar means getting rid of the thirteen. This is the typical costume they use in Sizdah Bedar. |

Iran is a big country. It is the eighteenth largest country in the world with a population of 71,208,000. Its capital is Tehran and the official language is Persian. The president’s name is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Iran borders the Caspian Sea to the north, Afghanistan to the east, and Turkey to the west, the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman to the south. Some beautiful places to visit in Iran are the plateaus, basins and extraordinary salt lakes. It is also one of the world’s most mountainous countries which would be nice to visit.
