| On the tenth of August of 1809 Ecuador celebrates the day of “el primer grito de independencia” (first shout of independence). This holiday is called like this because on the 16 of august of 1809 Ecuador signed the act of independence. On the morning of the 10th of August Mr. Antonio Ande went to a meeting with the president Manuel Urriezto to talk about political transformations. On the 16th of August another meting was held in the Sala Capitular de San Agustín . People from all over Quito went to this meeting. There they signed the act of independence of Ecuador. | ![]() |

Ecuador is located in the northwestern part of South America. Ecuador borders with Colombia, Peru and the Pacific Ocean. In Ecuador the language that is spoken is Spanish. The country’s total land area is 256.370 square kilometers. Ecuador is named because the equator passes right through this country. Ecuador has a lot of fruits and it is known for its high quality fish. |
