BELGIUM - NATIONAL DAY

Belgium ’s official name is Kingdom of Belgium. Belgium is located in northwest Europe. This country has a population of about 10 million people. There are three official languages which are Dutch, French and German. Belgium is about 75% Roman Catholic. Belgium’s summers are mild. Winters are mild too with frequent fog and light rain. Colder temperatures are common in the Ardennes. One place to visit in Belgium is the country’s capital Brussels.

Belgium has a holiday called National Day. National Day is celebrated on July 21st. They remember when Leopold I pledged to be true to Belgium. On July 21, 1831 Leopold I became the first king of Belgium. He died on December 10, 1865, he was 74 years old. To celebrate the day, they have parades. There are fireworks at night in Brussels.
